Thymosin alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid polypeptide carrying an N-terminal acetyl group on its serine residue. Its sequence corresponds to residues 2-29 of the precursor polypeptide prothymosin alpha, from which it is derived by proteolytic processing. The sequence is strongly acidic, contains no cysteine and therefore no disulfide bridge, and is largely disordered in aqueous buffer.
Thymosin alpha-1 is reported to engage Toll-like receptor 2 and Toll-like receptor 9. Engagement is measured in vitro in transfected reporter cell lines by NF-κB-driven luciferase readout with receptor-null and receptor-blockade controls run alongside. Direct association is assessed by surface plasmon resonance against recombinant receptor ectodomains and by co-immunoprecipitation from transfected lysates. Reported characterisation stops at the receptor-binding and reporter-readout level.

Primary literature on the sequence, synthesis and receptor-binding chemistry of thymosin alpha-1 and its prothymosin alpha precursor is indexed in PubMed and in peptide chemistry and receptor pharmacology journals. Search results and cited literature do not establish the performance of a commercial lot or a use recommendation.
It is supplied for laboratory research and analytical work only and is not intended for human or veterinary use.
A report for this exact product and strength is not currently linked on this page. Contact support with the product name and the lot number on your vial to ask which documentation is available. Reports for other products or strengths do not verify this material.
Mass spectrometry resolves the 42 Da acetyl increment against the unmodified 28-residue sequence, and tandem MS fragmentation places the modification at the N-terminal serine.
